Communications The Nyack Board of Education adopted changes to Policy 5305 This policy speaks to the expectations set for students participating in co-curricular activities and athletic teams. The terms of the policy will go into effect at the end of the first quarter marking period. Nyack Calendar 2019-20 FINAL.pdf Communications Schoology Nyack Public Schools is pleased to introduce a new digital learning tool, Schoology , for students, teachers and families. Schoology is a software platform organized by course that integrates classroom resources and materials along with communication tools in one system. During the 2019-20 school year, the high school will be transitioning to Schoology in preparation for a full Schoology implementation beginning in September 2020. You will be receiving directions for accessing the Schoology Parent/Guardian application if one or more of your child’s teachers are using Schoology during this transitional year. Directions will be distributed on Back to School Night from your child’s teacher or directly from your child following Back to School Night. Nyack High School COLD AND FLU SEASON is here Flu and the common cold are both respiratory illnesses, however they are caused by different viruses. Because these two types of illnesses have similar symptoms, it can be difficult to tell the difference between them based on symptoms alone. In general, flu symptoms are worse than the common cold and include a fever. Flu symptoms include fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches and fatigue (tiredness). Cold symptoms are usually milder than the symptoms of flu and people with colds are more likely to have a runny or stuffy nose. In decisions about school attendance, if you child feels ill check their temperature. If over 100 degrees F or 37.7 degrees C, please keep your child at home until he/she is fever free for 24 hours without medication such as tylenol or motrin. If your child is diagnosed with flu by the doctor, please call the school nurse at 353-7140. You will also find that Nyack High School is a unified team with students and staff working together toward common goals. We strive to reach our fullest potential as individuals and as one collective learning community. We understand the world is ever changing, and we work diligently to further develop our understanding of what needs to be mastered to successfully compete in a global society.
